This holiday season, Airdrie 8th Street Dental would like to express our thanks and sincere appreciation for each and every patient that has walked through the doors of our office. We feel truly blessed to be able to help you achieve a healthy smile, and we genuinely look forward to seeing you return for your follow-up visits.
With the holiday season upon us, it’s a time to rejoice with our family, friends and have some fun. However, it can also be a time for dental problems if you’re not careful. Here are some tips to keep your smile healthy during the holiday season:
1. Watch your sugar intake
Sugar is bad for your teeth and can cause cavities. And this can be amplified during the holiday season when many people tend to throw caution to the wind when it comes to their diet and nutrition. Try to keep sugary foods and drinks to a minimum during the holidays. Of course, enjoy yourself, but remember that moderation is key, so don’t overdo it. Your smile will thank you in the new year.
2. Don’t forget to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day
This is especially important if you’re going to be indulging in those sugary treats. The holidays are a time when many people “fall off the bandwagon.” They completely abandon many of the good habits they adhered to throughout the year — all in the name of holiday cheer! Don’t ignore brushing and flossing, this is a habit you should never let up on, regardless of what season it is.
3. Keep an eye on your kids’ oral health
Make sure your children are brushing their teeth twice a day and flossing once a day as well. A cavity in your child is just as inconvenient as you getting one. So ensure that your little ones are keeping up the pace with their good dental hygiene habits.
4. Drink plenty of water
Water helps to wash away food particles and bacteria from your teeth, this will assist with good dental hygiene. Of course, it’s not a supplement for brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, but it will help — especially during the holiday season.
5. Bring yourself to Airdrie 8th Street Dental
We offer general and cosmetic dentistry services to help keep your smile looking great. So if you’ve stuffed yourself silly this holiday season, and feel you’re in need of a check-up, come on down to Airdrie 8th street dental where we’re open 6 days a week (with the exception of Sundays), accepting emergency and walk-in appointments for your convenience.
We’re also taking on new patients in the new year as well, so be sure to get in touch with us this holiday season to book an appointment.
If you’re in need of a unique way to spruce your Christmas gift giving this year, think of providing dental products for your loved ones: we have dental floss, toothbrushes, even toothpaste with several flavours. It may seem like a strange present, but offering a loved one such a gift can assist them with improving their oral health in the new year and beyond!
We hope you have a happy and healthy holiday season! From all of us at Airdrie 8th Street Dental, we wish you the best of luck in the New Year!
