Airdrie 8th Street Dental Celebrates National Dentist Day

National Dentist Day

When was the last time you visited your dental clinic

Dentists provide an essential service that helps keep your oral hygiene healthy. As a result, you can live in perfect dental well-being and enjoy the many foods and beverages you love! That’s why March 6th is National Dentist Day. This date celebrates dentists’ hard work, which enables us to enjoy perfect oral health. Keep reading to learn more.

The Origins of National Dentist’s Day

The dentistry profession has been around for a long time; the earliest evidence of the practice is estimated to be as old as 14,100 years! Going back to 7000 BC, dentists assisted sufferers with toothaches and oral cavities.

At the time, they lacked the contemporary dental tools we use today. As such, they had to get on with primitive yet “resourceful solutions,”—such as using flint tools and beeswax to remove the decay. At one point, oral cavities were believed to be caused by a ‘tooth worm,’ referenced in Homer’s musings.

Luckily, things have changed in our modern world. We now have the tools and technology to perform dental procedures effectively and often without pain. So if one of your concerns about visiting a dental clinic is pain, remember your ancestors. They dealt with decaying teeth by pulling them from their gums—without the assistance of anesthesia. Yikes!

How to Commemorate National Dentist Day

With March 6th being National Dentist Day, what better way to celebrate than getting a check-up at your dental clinic? If you’ve been avoiding this, now is an opportunity to prioritize your oral health. Even if you think your teeth are fine, you could get them cleaned to brighten your incredible smile!

Also, if applicable, you can bring your family in for a dental visit. Remember, good dental health represents good overall health. So, by managing your family’s oral well-being, you are, by default, managing their overall health.
